The printed version of The Taste of Scotland Guide was last published in 2003. An excellent paperback guide to Scottish Restaurants it was produced by the Taste of Scotland company which unfortunately ceased trading in 2005. No further guides were published.
In those days this was THE guide to help visitors and travellers find the best of Scotland’s eating places serving traditional Scottish cuisine. Since then the Internet has provided a wealth of web sites, food blogs and online directories all claiming to be the best source of information on restaurants and food producers.
Our interested in Scottish Restaurants & Scottish Food producers goes back as far as 1997 when we registered the domain name taste-of-scotland.com in our first attempt to set up an online food directory. In those early days we had an informal partnership with the print company and took the first steps in promoting Scottish restaurant, Scotland’s cuisine and food producers to the rest of the world.
We hope you find the directory and the content interesting. We believe that Scotland has a unique cuisine and perhaps the world’s best larder – wonderful seafood, fish, beef and game as well as some of the most delicious cheeses, soft fruits and bakes that you will find anywhere. Come and discover some of the best of Scotland in our Taste of Scotland online directory.
